Analysis by Adam Wingard: Alf is clearly being represented as a christ like figure. The baby above his head symbolizes the washing away of sins as Alf suffers on the hell of the cross aka planet earth. You will notice that the children are innocently holding Alf in place as he seems to shriek in terror. Their sweet naivety is reflective of the brainwashed Roman people that unknowingly crucified the space being sent to redeem them. The parents hover above everything knowing and seeing all, they are the catholic church clutching the baby aka the worlds salvation just out of reach and out of sight of the Romans below. It should lastly be noted that the father seems to be giving the camera/humanity the finger. This obscene gesture is the real give away of the portraits true intent. We are enslaved by those that control everything and it is they who persecute us and hold the keys to peace over our heads.
